The French Alps are world renowned for offering top quality slopes, with many of the resorts at a high level offering good quality snow for the whole of the ski season. But one of the Alps other big attractions is the quality of its nightlife, making its more lively resorts a perfect destination for the younger crowd looking for top-notch skiing by day and a fun time by night. Courchevel - Located in the Savoie region of the French Alps, Courchevel is part of the Three Valleys which makes up the largest ski area in the world. It has its own airport, making access easy, and France's excellent railway network makes getting to the mountains easy if flying is not for you. If you're looking for a challenge then head to the 'Couloirs' runs, widely acknowledged as some of the most difficult black slopes in the world! Accommodation is of good value and standard and if you book early you could save a good deal of money too. The nightlife in Courchevel is second to none, often being the first choice for groups of friends wanting as good a nightlife as a ski slope and frequented by the rich and famous in the past few years, Courchevel has really become the place to go. Val D'Isere - Widely regarded as the crème de la crème of French ski resorts, Val D'Isere combines excellent skiing with entertaining après ski and a vibrant nightlife. Its highest slope sits at 3500, making it one of the highest points in the Alps and with 133 runs in total the ski area is simply vast. Good for skiers of all abilities as its 133 slopes are split into 21 green, 63 blue, 35 red and 14 black and with good off piste areas for the really adventurous amongst you, 'The Valley of Desire' (its English translation) is great for groups with mixed abilities. Its nightlife is one of the best with good bars and clubs to relax after a long day ski-ing. Check out Perdrix Blanche for a packed young crowd, or Taverne d'Alsace for a quieter more adult oriented après ski bar. Take Friday and Monday off work so you can hit the slopes and soak up the nightlife! Companies in Courchevel and Val D'Isere offer weekend packages so you can go 'all inclusive' to keep the price down and enjoy your short break on a reasonable budget.
