Traditional looking Restaurant and Bar, sky sports on lcd screens, friendly staff, prices average for Soldeu, food not the greatest (mayby my bad luck I was there when they had Thai night) but the pizza there is a safe bet.

Week Commencing 24th March 2008 Party of 22 - 13 adults and 9 children/teens 2 visits during the week - tables pre booked, adults on one and children/teens on another. Initial thoughts - Setting 10/10 - Ambience 8.5/10 -No Smoking 10/10 - Flat Screen TV (no sound) 7/10. Staff seemed friendly to begin with but the place was full so some items took their time to arrive (drinks) - first evening we arrived at 19:30 and starters finally arrived at 20:20 (with two rounds of drinks in between!) - Starters varied in price from 3.00 (Garlic Bread) to 9.75 (Deep Fried Camembert) - when they arrived they were worth waiting for - Garlic bread was three large wedges of what looked like "Irish Soda Bread" - Mixed Platter 8.50 was the fav.... 4 onion rings, 1 spring roll, 1 deep fried brie and 2 chicken wings all with 3 different dips - all votes for these courses were 8/10 and comments of "value for money". The kids/teens had their main courses first as they "needed" to be in the Aspen Bar - the adults main meals arrived at about 21:15 and genuinely went through the menu with pizzas, t-bone - ribs (bring wet wipes..yum yum) - pasta.... all served with either wedges or roast potatos. The craic improved with the staff as the evening went on and the joy of the table was reflected in the high 8's, 9's & 1 x 10 scoring out of 10. Only a couple had room for pud as the portions were more than generous and I think we finally rolled out at about 22:30. We weren't in a hurry as it was a social dinner - thus it must of been a hit as we returned en-mass 3 nights later and apart from a little spat in the kitchen another great evening, thanks to Angie, the wee scots lass and to those behind the "counter". Good: Value for money, ambience & good food. Improvements: Access (ref wheelchair, baby buggy and broken leg access!! :-) If you are in a particular hurry then tell the staff otherwise just sit back and let the evening flow. Our second visit to Soldeu in two years from Northern Ireland - last year 14 attending and this year 22 plus baby. Hope to return next year as there is still so much more to explore.
